Special Projects

From time to time, NGO’s, Charities and other organizations’ contact us requesting volunteers to assist with special one-off projects.

With the country changing so quickly, there is a lot of catching up to do in some areas, and new procedures and systems coming in to place constantly.

A wide variety of skills is therefore required - for example, at present we urgently need a Signer. There is a high percentage of hearing impaired adults and children here in the Maldives, and whilst some provisions are made in one school in the capital of Male – it’s very limited.  A local company is fantastic in supporting the community, and is looking for a volunteer to come and train staff, and young adults – the international sign language structure.

The sign language used here is a local brand!  Very good – but restrictive for the young adults in many ways who need to get out into the world and job markets!  The local company is looking to train up individuals to allow them to progress and communicate effectively in the business world, and therefore give many more opportunities to talented youngsters.

Another example of a past project was for a talented and professional educator to come and assess the teaching methods throughout 40 schools, and devise new training systems to carry forward a more consistent and interactive approach in the classroom.
