Volunteer Maldives gives back

Here at Volunteer Maldives, we’re committed to giving our volunteers a truly unique and inspiring experience, as well as ensuring the island communities we work with get the help and support they need. 55% of your placement fee goes back to support the local islanders in a variety of ways. Some communities require funding to be able to accommodate and provide meals for the volunteers, so we cover this cost right from the outset. Those islands that don’t need funding in this way, Volunteer Maldives are very happy to contribute to specific projects the islands have, such as sponsoring sports events, help with the cost of new buildings, and donating to the schools’ prize giving days – which are always big events here in the Maldives!

For 2011, we would like to be able to make a lot of headway into building up the school libraries for the islands we work with, and a contribution from every placement fee will go towards buying books the schools require.

Giving always makes you feel good – so we like to do this a lot! Working with our partner islands and NGO’s here in the Maldives we love to hear what they need help with and were delighted to contribute to various projects directly to islands we work with.
